COVID's impact on Medicare and Social Security

. . . and so it begins. Attributed to how we handled the pandemic or not, cuts to Medicare are inevitable. According to its trustees, we spent more money fighting COVID than it would have taken to keep the Hospital Insurance Fund (Medicare A) solvent through the end of this century. Our nation's leaders made decisions. They may have been the right decisions. They may have been the wrong ones, but it all went without any serious discussion of the future impact of the various alternatives. This is inexcusable.
